Does my child need an account to use Badgie Academy?
No. Students open lessons directly in a browser. No sign-up, no email address, no password.

Plain-language information for families about how Badgie Academy handles student information.
The Simple Answer
Your child never gives us their name, their email, or a password.
Students do not have accounts. Your child joins with a class code, the platform gives them a nickname from a fixed list like "Brave Otter 27", and their progress is saved against a random code — never against their identity.
One thing to know up front: if you create a parent account, that account has your real email address on it, and it is linked to your child's record. From then on, your child's learning history can be found through your account. That is how the parent features work, and it is worth understanding before you create one.
What Your Child Never Gives Us

What Badgie Academy Does Not Do

- Track students across other websites
- Serve advertising to students

- Share student information with third parties for commercial purposes
- Require students to create accounts to access lessons
Progress Data
To power the progress page, achievement center, and printable certificates, Badgie Academy saves a small amount of learning-progress data: which lessons were completed, whether each lesson-check answer was correct, points earned, and badges or certificates unlocked.
This is linked only to a random code saved in your child's browser — never to a name, email address, or other identifying information. If that browser's data is cleared, the code is lost and that browser can no longer reach the progress record. (Clearing the browser does not delete the record itself — see "Getting Your Child's Data Deleted" below.)
When a student joins a class with a teacher's code, the platform assigns a nickname from a fixed list and stores it with their progress. The nickname is not something a child types. The server only accepts combinations it generated, so a real name cannot be entered there even on purpose.
What Your Child's Teacher Can See
A teacher signed in to their own account can see, for each student in their own classroom: the nickname, how many lessons they have finished, their points, when they were last active, and how much build evidence they have submitted. That is per-student, not just a class total.
A teacher cannot see which answer your child picked on any individual question. A teacher cannot see students in someone else's classroom.
Writing Your Child Submits
Some activities ask a student to write about what they built — a title, a description, and a reflection. What your child types in those boxes is saved exactly as typed, and their teacher can read it. Nothing scans or removes personal information from it.
The lessons teach students not to share personal information online, and none of the prompts ask for any. But the platform cannot stop a child from typing their own name into a reflection box, so it is worth mentioning to them.
How Lessons Are Delivered
Badgie Academy lessons are static web pages delivered through Cloudflare's global network. When your child opens a lesson, their browser downloads text, images, and styling from Cloudflare's servers — the same way any website works. Cloudflare's network may process standard web request logs (such as which pages were loaded) as a normal part of CDN operation. These logs are not used to identify individual students or build learning profiles.
Badgie Academy also loads fonts through Google Fonts, a standard web service. No student-identifying information is transmitted in these requests.
If You Create a Parent Account
Parent accounts are optional. If you create one, Badgie Academy stores your email address, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, and the display name you choose. Your password is never stored in a readable form.
Linking your account to your child connects your real email address to their learning record. That link is what lets you see their progress and evidence — and it also means their record is no longer anonymous to anyone who can reach your account. If you would rather your child's record stay unlinked, do not create the link; the classroom experience works without it.
There is currently no password-reset page. If you forget your password, email us and it will be sorted out by hand.
Getting Your Child's Data Deleted
Email BadgieIQ@proton.me and ask. We will respond within 30 days. You can ask what is stored, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted.
There is no button on this site that does it for you. A person handles each request. Your child's teacher can also delete your child's record, or a whole classroom's, from their own dashboard.
If you delete a parent account, learners that exist only under that account are removed with it. A child who is also in a school classroom keeps that school record — the school holds its own copy, and one parent should not be able to erase a teacher's roster.
Clearing your browser's data does not delete anything from our side. It only makes that browser unable to find the record again.
COPPA and FERPA
Badgie Academy does not certify its own compliance with either law, and this page is not a legal opinion. What we can tell you is what the software does, which is what your school's review actually needs.
COPPA concerns collecting personal information from children under 13. Students here have no accounts, no email field, and no password field; their nickname comes from a fixed list the server enforces; and their IP address is never stored — only a scrambled value used to slow down abusive traffic, deleted after 30 days. No verifiable-parental-consent workflow has been built, because no student personal information is collected that would require one.
FERPA concerns student education records held by schools. Badgie Academy does not receive records from schools, does not import class rosters, and stores no student name or school-issued identifier. Progress data starts here and is keyed to a random code.
Badgie Academy has not obtained a legal opinion on either law and has not signed a FERPA agreement with any district. If your school needs one, ask them to contact us.
If your child's school separately tracks participation or progress — on paper, in a gradebook, or in a school information system — that data is governed by your school's policies, not this page.
Teacher Preview Pages
Badgie Academy includes teacher preview pages that show the lesson alongside answer keys and facilitation notes. The answer key requires a teacher to be signed in. If you open a preview URL without a teacher account, you will see the ordinary lesson with no answers on it.
The page itself is not password-protected, so preview URLs are still educator material and should not be handed to students.
This Is a Pilot
Badgie Academy is an early, scoped deployment — running in a small number of schools and homes so that real use can show what needs fixing. It is not a finished commercial product.
Things that are honestly not finished yet: there is no password reset, deletion is by request rather than a button, progress data has no automatic expiry, and no outside firm has audited the platform's security or accessibility.

Will my child see advertising?
No. Badgie Academy does not display advertising and does not collect data for advertising purposes.
Can I see what my child is learning?
Yes. Every Badgie Academy lesson is open to parents. Go to the lesson catalog and open any lesson — no login required. The teacher preview page shows the same lesson; its answer key and facilitation notes are shown only to a signed-in teacher.
What happens to my child's quiz answers?
Whether each answer was correct is saved against the random code, so your child can track progress, earn badges, and pick up where they left off. It is never used for advertising or profiling. A teacher sees how many lessons your child has completed, not which answer they chose on a given question.
Does Badgie Academy have any accounts at all?
Yes — for adults. Teachers and parents create accounts with an email address and password, and those are stored (the password only as a scrambled hash). Students never do. See the Privacy Policy, Section 4.
How do I get my child's data deleted?
Email BadgieIQ@proton.me and ask. We respond within 30 days. Your child's teacher can also do it from their dashboard. If you have a parent account, you can delete that account yourself from the Parent Portal — which also deletes any learner you set up at home who is not in a school classroom, including learners you have archived, but not a school's own classroom record.
What if I have a concern about content?
Contact your child's teacher first. You may also email Badgie Academy at BadgieIQ@proton.me with any content concern and we will respond within five business days.
Will this change as the product grows?
If future versions introduce student accounts or any form of data collection, this page and the Privacy Policy will be updated. Schools and pilot families will be notified before any such change is deployed.

For School Legal Review: This page describes the deployed pilot in plain language for families. Students hold no accounts and supply no personal information; teachers and parents hold accounts with email addresses and hashed passwords; a linked parent account makes a child's record re-identifiable. Badgie Academy makes no compliance certification of its own and has not obtained a legal opinion on COPPA or FERPA.
